Wild About Wildlife Month

Happy Sunday, Missians!

Thanks for checking out another edition of The Missy Show Blog.  We're still your premiere source for fun and informative pet topics.  I intended to publish this post on Friday, but due to some more "life situation stuff," I wasn't able to get it out Friday or yesterday.  But fret not...you didn't miss any animal or pet holidays--there haven't been any since July 1st.  Today actually isn't an animal holiday designated for a particular day, either, (those don't pick back up until tomorrow), but I'm placing this special event in today's spot because it's another month-long, July celebration!  This July celebration is Wild About WildlifeAnd July is Wild About Wildlife Month!

What better way to celebrate wildlife than to donate toys to some deserving, big cats at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge?

Turpentine Creek's mission statement is:

To provide lifetime refuge for abandoned, abused, and neglected big cats with an emphasis on tigers, lions, leopards, and cougars.

You can read more about how Turpentine Creek was founded, here:

Right now, Turpentine Creek is asking for donations to provide enrichment toys for the big cats to play with.  Housecats like to play with balls, right?  Well, so do big cats!  There are several different types of balls, and many other enrichment items these animals could use to improve their hunting skills and to, up their exercise game.  If you feel that any of the items are too pricey, why not come together with a group of friends or like minded individuals who also love animals, and have each person chip in to make a donation?  It's for a good cause.  Just check out the video below, to see for yourself:

And as you saw from the video above, they're also going to be helping bears!  Yay!  So in addition to the other month-long celebrations in July, be sure to support and respect our wildlife.  These animals may need love and care in different ways than our domestic friends, but they still need love and care, nonetheless.  So remember to keep our wildlife friends in mind for the month of July, (and every month, for that matter).  They share this planet with us, and make the world a much more interesting and beautiful place to inhabit.

Be sure to check back for tomorrow's pet holiday post!

Until then, here's to enjoying the rest of your weekend.
