Happy Wednesday, Missians!
Thanks for checking out another edition of Missy's Blog. In today's post, we wish to honor all those heroes who risked and sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001. We here at the Missy Show thank you for all you gave and have given. Because we are an animal and pet blog, this post also serves to honor and thank any animals risked and made the ultimate sacrifice.
This post will be to honor the dogs heroes of 9/11.
Today's info is courtesy of The Dogington Post article, "Remembering the Dog Heroes of 9/11." I was going to do another deal where I post the whole article (or most of it), but I wanted you all to be able to see the pictures of each of the dog heroes, and I was having trouble getting those on here, so I've decided to let you all just click the link to the article below, and see for yourselves.

This is the only part from the article I included because I think it perfectly sums up the sentiment from that day:
Always remember.
I'll see you guys back here on Friday, to announce our October Pet Spooktacular schedule.
Until then,

This article honors nine canine heroes of September 11th.
They are Bretagne (pronounced Brit-nee), Riley, Coby & Guinness, Appollo, Thunder, Sage (who became a search and rescue dog for FEMA at only 18 months old), Trakr (a German Shepherd who discovered the last 9/11 survivor--Trakr died in April 2009 and his DNA was used create 5 clones), and Jake (a stray living on the streets with several injuries including a dislocated hip and broken leg, before he was rescued).

This is the only part from the article I included because I think it perfectly sums up the sentiment from that day:
When the World Trade Center collapsed on September 11, 2001, nearly 10,000 emergency rescue workers joined in the efforts to help. More than 300 of those heroes were dogs.
Today we remember and honor the Hero Dogs of 9/11 along with the countless people who had their lives irrevocably changed by man’s best friend. From search and rescue dogs to comfort dogs to bomb detection dogs, these canines’ stories of courage, healing and long-lasting legacy must never be forgotten.Always remember.
