National Craft for Your Local Shelters Day

Happy Friday, Missians!

There haven't been any more animal/pet holidays since we celebrated Shark Day last Sunday--which is why we've been pretty quiet around here.  And as far as one of today's "holidays," goes, I'm not really sure if it's really "today's" holiday.  What I mean by that is, Monkey Day appears to be in December, according to most sites, (and even on my go-to pet holiday site), but my go-to pet holiday site, also has it listed as today, July 21st.  So, I'll just say, just in case it really is Monkey Day today too, here's a big shout-out to all the monkeys all over the world!  And just in case I'm wrong, we'll revisit this one in December.

Before I discuss our definite pet holiday, I just want to remind you guys to tune in to tomorrow's episode of The Missy Show, entitled, "Puppy Pregnancy Syndrome."  It's sure to be an interesting ride.  Find out why, tomorrow at 5pm Central.

Okay, now for our recognition of National Craft for Your Local Shelters Day!  If you're crafty, why not give back to your local shelter, by using your skills for the betterment of all the animals living there?  Do you know how to make a homemade pet bed?  Do you have carpentry skills, and are good with repairsMaybe you're skilled enough to make a homemade, cat scratching post?  Any of these skills are could be put to good use at any animal shelter.

Some shelters may need minor repairs that could be handled by anyone with carpentry or mechanical skills.  Why not help these shelters for free?  They would greatly appreciate not having to spend valuable money to hire a repairman, when that money could go to the animals in need.  Then there's always doggie sweaters!  Are you a knitter?  Doggie sweaters could be an awesome idea as temps drop, or maybe just for the animals to pose in, if the shelter takes adoption pics.  The options are limitless.  So today's the day, (and actually, any day), to put your craft skills to great use for animals who currently lack homes--and it helps the employees and volunteers too!

So to recap...

It's maybe, Happy Monkey Day!  And definitely, Happy National Craft For Your Local Shelters Day!

See you tomorrow for our next Animal/Pet holiday!  And don't forget to join us tomorrow at 5pm Central on Google Hangouts, for another Missy Show episode.
