National Pet Parents Day

Happy National Pet Parents Day!

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon, here on the Gulf Coast.  Right now, we're in that zone of perfect temperatures--not too hot and not too cold.  Of course, because I'm in the south, I already know that's not going to last for long.  As we get deeper in May, sitting on the back porch without being overcome with scorching heat and humidity will definitely not be much of an option.  But since that's not the case for right now, here I sit in enjoying the sun, trees, and cardinals flying about in my back yard.

Lazy dog-day afternoon

For all of you who're good pet parents, today is your day.  You should all feel great about the love, shelter, and support you provide to your furry, (and not so furry), family members.  And to those of you who've been former pet parents, you should celebrate too.  You know what it's like to offer your love and care deeply for animals as well.  I also want to give a special thanks to those of you who work in shelters, providing love and support for animals until they can find their fur-ever homes, (foster pet parents, I see you--you deserve mad recognition as well)!

If you're not a pet parent yet, why not adopt a pet today?  Or if you feel you're not ready to make such a big commitment, you can still volunteer or make a donation to your local animal shelter or pet foundation.  Okay, that's enough reading...go outside and play with your pet!  If you have a diva cat like Missy, you can just let them lay in your lap and stroke them while you watch some t.v. or get caught up on your latest book.  Either way, make today special for you and four-legged family member (unless, of course, you have an eight legged pet, such as a tarantula).

Okay, that's it for now.  See you back here in a few days!

Until then,

This is your host, J
